The length of the entire expressway is 50km, of which the section through Ho Chi Minh City is 23.7km long.
At noon on October 19, at the 3rd meeting of the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City, term X, the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City passed a resolution approving the proposal to implement the investment project to build the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway (Tay Ninh province).
This expressway meets the demand for travel, freight, and reduces the load on National Highway 22. At the same time, it connects economic centers, border-gate economic zones, and urban centers of the Northern Key Economic Zone. South with hubs of seaports, international airports and the ASEAN economic region.
Thereby promoting the advantages of highways that have been invested and built in the region, contributing to improving the quality of transport infrastructure, creating a breakthrough for socio-economic development of the region, ensuring defense security. The starting point of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway is from Ring Road 3 in Cu Chi district. This expressway runs parallel to the existing National Highway 22. The end point connects to National Highway 22, Moc Bai border gate area. The route has 8 lanes, the remaining section in Tay Ninh province has 6 lanes. The length of the entire expressway is 50km, of which the section through Ho Chi Minh City is 23.7km long.
The route is invested under the method of public-private partnership (BOT contract). Accordingly, the investor collects the payback fee under the BOT contract, the state supports the cost of compensation and site clearance from the budget capital of Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh province.
Estimated total investment (phase 1) is 15,900 billion VND. In which, construction cost is 5,417 billion VND; project management, investment consulting and other expenses are 1,836 billion VND; the cost of compensation for site clearance, support and resettlement is 7,433 billion VND (about 5,901 billion VND in Ho Chi Minh City, 1,532 billion VND in Tay Ninh province); provision expense is 1,214 billion VND.
The project implementation period (phase 1) is expected in the period of 2021-2025.
